Chinese Language Flagship Website Goes Live

Gibens Creative Group is excited to announce that The University of Mississippi's Chinese Language Flagship website (www.olemiss.edu/chinese) is now online.
The Chinese Language Flagship website is the latest of several that Gibens Creative Group has had the privilege of creating for The University of Mississippi. Among these are the university's School of Law (www.law.olemiss.edu), the School of Business Administration Executive and Management Education Program (www.olemissbusiness.com/execed), and the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College (www.honors.olemiss.edu), which won an Addy® Award in 2008.
Gibens Creative Group expanded the Chinese Language Flagship Program's previous one-page web presence into a more extensive website that covers the spectrum of their unique program. The Flagship program's new static website now features custom designs and Chinese translations of the submenu headers.
Chad Anderson, art director at Gibens Creative Group, found creating an engaging design for the website an informative process.
"I had to research similar programs as well as various aspects of Chinese culture," Anderson said. "I wanted to achieve the right look and feel for the Flagship program's goals and objectives."
Dr. Michael Metcalf, who administers the Chinese Language Flagship in collaboration with Professor Donald Dyer, was pleased with the result.
"I'm delighted with the new website for the Chinese Language Flagship Program here at Ole Miss, and I've already received congratulatory comments from fellow directors of Flagship programs at Ohio State University and elsewhere."
During the month of October and into November, The University of Mississippi's Chinese Flagship Program will be advertised on public radio broadcasts in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. In addition, all of the Chinese Flagship Programs will be advertised across the country in the "Special Report on China and America" in the Oct. 24 edition of The Economist magazine. This ad will direct people to www.thelanguageflagship.org/chinese where they can find the Ole Miss site and those of the other Chinese Flagship Programs.
The Chinese Flagship Program is a five-year program open to any Ole Miss undergraduate student. The goal of the Flagship program is to create global professionals, who will become proficient in Mandarin Chinese and who will possess a deep level of cultural understanding necessary to succeed in working in China and with Chinese counterparts around the world.
